I purchase two orange pi i96s both have Wi-Fi failures after about 10 mins working and stop connecting. I used Debian and Ubuntu to test, but same issue. Changed power supply with no effect as there is no way (except via serial) of communicating with the boards without Wi-Fi, its makes them pretty much useless.
I wouldn't waste your money on these. also if you do purchase them you need to remove ASLA "sudo apt-get purge –auto-remove alsa-utils" before it will boot after initial boot. But dont waste your time.

The manufacturer has long scored on this device. Sell for locks. Native Linux work before the first reboot after activation of WiFi. Hanging deliberately. Some how informal Armbian works, but due to a kernel error, each time after reboot, sets up a new MAC address. Therefore, it is impossible to make a static IP. When prescribed with his hands in the book, the connection is lost.

This is the second attempt with this fee. It's not working. Pull up and raise something normal, offspring that it's just a waste of money. The fee seems to be loaded, but no one writes anything to the port and does not compose to the WiFi. In general, completely useless. But the bug is fast)

3 major issues with this board (1) hung at second boot for Debian and ubuntu, which can be resolved by purging the alsa packages (2) very unstable wifi which I don’t have a solution but to explore other OS (3) cannot shutdown without restarting again, which I don’t have a solution yet.

Perfect products, only defect no instructions .. Complicated use especially to adjust the WiFi with a security key...
The length of the antenna is bigger than the Orange pi, it would have been better a chip to manage WiFi and Bluetooth.

When using UART to USB make sure to set COM speed to 921600, in Putty.
Both Ubuntu and Debian images work fine. Nice and small Orange Pi.

Use baudrate 921600 for first boot serial.
Delete audio driver before reboot or second boot will fail "sudo apt autoremove alsa-utils"
