Most definitely super bright. The bulb is huge, much bigger than expected. I have a cylinder style ceiling shade so it works well for me. The brightness is impressive. My bedroom is now as bright as a hospital theater which is what I wanted for my sewing projects. It also looks really pretty if you can stand looking at it for more than a split second. Very good product. Happy with purchase
I can't comment on life expectancy. Time will tell.
