It has very good weight, and the tightening screw is acceptable. The thumb screws work well, and appears to be made from a hardened allow. When the tightening knob is tightened, it does not move or fall out of place. It holds a standard dial indicator (I tried a genuine and fake Mitutoyo, and genuine Starrett and they all fit well). The collar tightened around the indicator shaft properly and with no play after tightening. This base is good for the price. I don't think you can find a better magnetic base than this one unless you get into the $200-350$ range for the next steps in quality. I use this base to teach my son about machining, without too much fear if he drops it from the workbench.

The indicator is satisfied, the error in 0.01mm is quite satisfactory, the hysteresis is present but within the division price, the repeatability is high. If it is not original, it is of good quality.
